1. Lotte New York Palace
Lotte Palace is a 5-star luxury hotel based in Midtown Manhattan and conveniently only a few blocks away from Rockefeller Plaza (which a must see during this festive season). The Lotte is probably the most ornate hotel in all of NYC during the holidays. Right at the entrance, there’s a giant breathtaking Christmas tree decorated with the most intricate details.
Once you step inside, there is an adorable letter writing station for families to write their wish lists to Santa. This is probably more for kids, but adults can join in on the fun too. The best part is that once you’re done writing your letter, there’s a mailbox specifically made to send your letters to Santa. If you’re lucky- an early Christmas surprise follows, delivered from Santa himself. Santa even comes to the Lobby every Saturday and Sunday for kids to meet him in person. The Lotte New York Palace is bringing the magic of Christmas to families who are making NYC their home away from home for the holidays.
If that wasn’t enough-The Lotte is doing a partnership with Molton Brown and will have a life size advent calendar. Guests can receive a complimentary Molton Brown gift from behind the calendar door every day between 5-7 pm leading up to Christmas.
2. Miracle on 9th Street
Miracle on 9th Street will no doubt get you in the holiday spirit with all their festive drinks and decorations. It’s an adorable pop up bar in the East Village that makes the most delicious hand-crafted cocktails inspired by Christmas. I’ve made it a personal tradition of mine to visit Miracle on 9th at least once during this time of year because it’s one of those places that reminds me why NYC is so special during the Holidays. Also, the drinks can really warm you up during the cold NYC winter!
My personal favorite cocktail from Miracle on 9th is called the YippieKiYay Mother****** which is served in a festive Santa pants mug.
# 3 Rockefeller Plaza
You can’t visit New York during this magical time of year and not go to Rockefeller Plaza. It’s probably one of the most celebrated holiday spots in the entire world. With a larger than life Christmas tree, the famous ice skating rink and the gorgeous decorations- it’s enough to put a smile even on the biggest bah humbug’s face.
Not to mention, It’s also probably one of the most famous spots for couples getting engaged. Every time I visit (without fail), I see someone get down on one knee and pop the most important question of their life to their significant other. And when the answer is yes, the whole crowd of strangers will hoot and holler to celebrate along with them. It’s easy to to see why couples flock to Rockefeller for an epic gesture like this- It’s overwhelmingly romantic, timeless, and absolutely unforgettable.
4. Rolf’s NYC
My favorite restaurant to go in NYC during the holidays is Rolf’s NYC. This small, family-owned, German eatery is totally decked out from wall to wall in the most lavish Christmas ornaments, greenery, and twinkly lights. It’s as if you’ve entered into Santa’s personal restaurant. As you walk in, you can’t help but to feel the warmth and coziness of the holidays. It will give you all feels, that’s for sure.
Their menu offers an array of traditional german food, winter inspired cocktails and much more. My favorite drink was definitely the spiced mulled wine- a famous german holiday drink. Here are a few photos and a video recap of my experience at this one-of-a-kind NYC gem.
5. Saks 5th Ave
In my opinion, Saks 5th Ave is the most impressive of ALL of the famous NYC storefronts. Their window displays tell the most elaborate stories that come to life- which makes it so much fun for the kids and adults of all ages. They also have this incredible light show that’s so beautiful, it might even bring tears to your eyes. It reminds of the the magic you feel seeing Cinderella’s castle at Disney World.
Saks 5th Ave is also conveniently located just behind Rockefeller Plaza, so I highly recommend doing both at the same time. I also recommend dining at the Rock Center Cafe where you eat a delicious meal while watching the ice skaters glide by on the most famous ice skating rink in NYC.
Well there you go! Those are my Top 5 Most Instagrammable spots in NYC during the holidays. One things for sure, there is absolutely nothing like NYC during Christmas time. Even though it’s cold outside, you can feel the warmth all around you.
If you have any other Holiday bucket list items in NYC that I didn’t mention- let me know in the comments below.
